Badfish was a stage play written and directed by Jeremy Lipps. It covered the biographical details of the life of Bradley Nowell, lead singer of the band Sublime.
The play was based on one-on-one interviews with Jim Nowell, Bradley’s father, and Jon Phillips, Sublime’s manager during their rise to fame. The interactive multimedia play featured recorded interviews, videos and recordings of people who were there. During the first run, spectators were encouraged to drink and stand during the show to recreate the “live show” vibe.
The play had two runs, showing originally in San Jose, Santa Cruz and San Francisco. The second run played at The Matrix in Los Angeles and sold out. The show was attended by band members, family and friends of Bradley Nowell.
The role of Bradley was played by actor and comedian Conor Kellicutt and Jim by comedian Robert Duchene.
